Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MSTI) and Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) sign Memorandum of Understanding

The objective of this MOU is to enhance the deployment of Science, Technology and Innovation for poverty reduction, rural livelihood improvement, entrepreneurship and job creation. Through RUFORUM’s initiative of Building Africa’s Science and Technology Capacity for Economic Growth (BASTIC), is it acknowledged that increasing the use of science, technology for innovation requires high level skills to drive institutional transformation and agricultural led growth supported by a favourable policy environment.


Economic Enterprise Restart Fund (EERF)

Stanbic Bank partnered with United Nations and other funding agencies to create an enterprise fund that will provide low-cost financing to informal sector businesses to enable the recover from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The EER will drive financial inclusion through the digital banking process and build economic activity sustainability that will help create employment opportunities, increase consumption, and poverty in the rural and peri-urban areas.


Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA), National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) sign MoU

Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA) and National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) sign a Memorandum of Understanding.  The aim of this MoU entailed NIRA granting FIA access to data on citizens’ national IDs as one of the ways to fighting money laundering and terrorism financing.


Digital Learning Innovation

The Ministry of Education and Sports in collaboration with War Child Holland launched a digital learning innovation branded "Can't Wait to Learn" in abid to promote digital approach to learning in August, 2020. The program is centered on improving literacy and numeracy skills for children using the gaming approach to learning. These educational games allow children to learn at their own pace.


Spotlight Initiative in Ending Violence against Women and Girls

The Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development is partnering with the European Union and the United Nations to end violence against women and girls. To address all forms of violence against women and children, the Spotlight initiative was launched to support concrete measures to end violence with a special focus on prevention, protection and provision of services; promoting children and women’s economic empowerment and participation in all aspects of society and will be a catalyst for strengthening the country’s protection system.


Knowledge Management and Capacity Building on Ground Water

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in collaboration with Uganda’s Ministry of Water and Environment convened a validation workshop on Knowledge Management and Capacity Building on Ground Water. IGAD embarked on regional assessments to inform the utilization and management of the region’s groundwater resources for drought resilience in view of the increased impacts of climate change.
